Pseudo-elastic deformation behavior in a Ti/Mo-based alloy

It is shown that the pseudo-elastic response in a series of Ti–Mo–V–Nb–Al alloys with 8–11 wt.% Mo is highly sensitive to both composition and heat treatment. Recovery of up to 3.0% strain has been observed but it appears that this may not be due to reversible formation of a00 martensite. 2003 Acta Materialia Inc. Published by Elsevier Ltd. Mechanism of Bainite Transformation in Fe-Cr-Mo-V-Ti-C Steel

The kinetics and mechanism of bainite transformation have been studied in Fe-Cr-Mo-V-Ti-C steel high speed dilatometry backed by thermodynamic analysis. The complete transformation of austenite, however, has not occurred at any reported temperature. Obtained results confirm the incomplete reaction phenomenon with the cessation of the bainite transformation well before the paraequilibrium is ach...

Effect of Aging on Martensitic Transformation in Ti-Rich Ti–Pd Shape Memory Alloy

Effect of aging on successive martensitic transformation in a Ti–47 at%Pd shape memory alloy has been studied by means of differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). After short time aging successive transformation takes place in Ti–47 at%Pd alloy irrespective of aging temperature. On the other hand, after relatively prolonged period only the specimen age...

The Isothermal Oxidation Behavior of a Ti3Al-Nb-V-Mo Alloy

The isothermal oxidation behavior of Ti-24Al-14Nb-3V-0.5Mo alloy in synthetic air from 700°C to 1000°C was studied. The main emphasis was focused on the effect of microstructure obtained by different processes of melting and hot rolling, i.e. large and duplex of 2+B2, on the oxidation resistance. Regardless of the microstructure, the overall oxidation process of the specimens exposed at 700°C w...

Nucleation of stress-induced martensites in a Ti/Mo-based alloy

The formation of stress-induced α′′ martensite in a metastable β Ti-Mo-based alloy has been studied using X-ray diffraction and transmission electron microscopy. The martensite nucleates heterogeneously at pre-existing sub-grain boundaries by dissociation of the boundary dislocations which bow out on inclined planes. The growth of martensite laths from the resultant stacking faults occurs by th...
